GMCD Offers Montana Natural Resources Youth Camp Scholarships for Local Teens

Green Mountain Conservation District is pleased to offer 3 competitive $150 scholarships for this exciting camp experience to off-set the all-inclusive camp fee of $300. The Montana Natural Resources Youth Camp is held in the Lubrecht Experimental Forest in Greenough, Montana from July 10-15. Campers must be between the ages of 14-18 and 13 (if graduated from eight grade) at the time of the camp.

This is an exciting camp which not only introduces teens to natural resource topics such as forests, streams, soils, geology, range land, wildlife, and recreation, but they will also get to spend half a day rafting the Alberton Gorge of the Clark Fork River. Along with the educational lessons taught by natural resource industry professionals, there are specialty evening programs, guest speakers, hands-on learning-through-discovery, and campfires which cumulate for a lasting summer camp experience. Applications for GMCD scholarships must be received by e-mail or by USPS to the GMCD office by Tuesday, June 7th. The GMCD Scholarship Application can be downloaded below.

All GMCD scholarship applicants will be notified by Thursday, June 9th.  If selected for the scholarship, a check from GMCD will be sent directly to the camp director in the camper’s name. It is the responsibility of the camper to cover the other half of the camp registration fee ($150.00), their travel expenses to and from the Lubrecht Experimental Forest in Greenough, Montana and any equipment or gear required for the camp. It is expected that campers give a brief oral or written summary after returning from camp to inform GMCD of the highlights from their experience.

Please contact either Mindy Ferrell, GMCD Supervisor at (406) 827-4341 / mferrell_9874@yahoo.com or Sarah Busmire, GMCD Administrator at (406) 827- 4833 / gmcd@blackfoot.net with any questions. We look forward to your scholarship application!
